I'm proud of my town
This post is partly a test to see whether I can work out how to put photos on this blog. Above should be a rather arty shot I took of Pompey's infamous Tricorn centre.
It's recently been torn down. It used to be a shopping centre and multi-storey car park and had a really kitsch look about it. But years of Council neglect and constantly winning 'ugliest building in Brotain' style competitions led it to being destroyed in late 2004.
I was in two minds on the issue. On the one hand it was a wonderful building. As they tore it down more and more of the internal structure was revealed and I could appreciate it further. Then again, whatever gets built on the site will have a positive effect on the town centre and hopefully attract more visitors.
Either way, I'm glad I took some pictures of it for the release of my first Qhixldekx album in 2003. At that point you could still get into the actual shopping centre. More photos can be found here (go to the 'gallery' section.)
